Ways to Market Your Cybersecurity to Make Your IT Business Stand Out

IT service providers are typically in a very competitive field. It’s important to find ways that you can stand out amongst the competition and provide more value than potential clients can find anywhere else.

While many MSPs market their remote management services and the different ways they can help clients’ technology infrastructures, not many discuss their own cybersecurity.

You can stand out and earn customer trust by explaining how your own systems follow cybersecurity best practices.

Trust is an important factor to potential customers. In a survey of qualities that buyers value most in salespeople, trust came out #1. The top three qualities were:

  • Trustworthy (47%)
  • Responsive (44%)
  • Expert in the field (40%)

You may have multiple security-related features in the tools you use that can help you gain more customers by promoting your IT company’s excellent cybersecurity protections.

Educate Your Audience

When marketing your cybersecurity, you first need to lay down a foundation of understanding about things like encryption and what it means, how remote connections can be exploited if they’re not secured properly, etc.

Many times, business executives may see ransomware attacks in the news and not really know what they mean. Use your company blog and email newsletter to educate your clients on cybersecurity risks and explain what your company does to mitigate those risks, so your clients and their data are protected.

Showcase Your Experience

Part of earning trust is showcasing what you’ve done to protect the customers you work with. Use reviews that clients have provided to you as a springboard for discussing your own IT security.

For example, you might showcase a review from a firm that had a ransomware attack that you helped mitigate. You can discuss how you helped them put a backup and recovery system in place that was the very one you use for your own company.

Connecting how you help clients with their IT security to the tactics you take yourself serves two purposes in your marketing and branding:

  • You gain trust by providing social proof of your expertise
  • You brand your business as one that makes cybersecurity a top priority at your company 

Explain the Cybersecurity Steps You Take
