Release 7/25/18: Event Log Monitoring is Now Available in Syncro!

Hey Syncro Users,

We’ve been hard at work developing new capabilities within Syncro’s RMM in order to give you a more powerful and customized way to monitor problematic events within Assets.

With the introduction of Event Log Policies, you can now customize what Syncro is monitoring based on specific Windows Event Logs of your choosing, avoiding the hassle of getting spammed with Asset alerts that aren’t valuable to you.

Similar to 3rd Party Application Management Policies, you can create a variety of Event Log Policies for different use cases and apply them to a Syncro Asset Policy in order to monitor and receive the Asset RMM Alerts of your choosing.

Let’s dive into how this works:

1. Log into your Syncro account and make your way over to the Policies module.
2. Click the “View Event Log Policies” button in the upper right-hand corner of the page.
   
   
3. On the Event Log Policies page, you will notice a list of pre-made Policies developed by the Syncro team to help you get started right away. As you start creating your own Event Log Policies, they will also appear here. If you wish to edit or clone these, you can use the context menu icon to do so.
   
   
4. To create your own Event Log Policies, click the “New Event Log Policy” button in the top-right corner of the page. After naming your Event Log Policy and selecting which default queries you’d like to use from the options we have provided (a total of 847!), be sure to click the “Save Event Policy” button at the bottom of the page.
   
   
5. Additionally, if you do not see the query you’d like to use within the list of options we’ve provided, you can use the “New Event Log Query” button in the top-right corner of the page to create your own.
   
   
6. After creating the Event Log Policies you’d like to use, make your way over to the Policies module once again in order to add your newly created Event Log Policies to the Asset RMM Policies you deem appropriate. More info on that here.
7. As your Asset RMM Policies are applied to different Assets, the Event Log queries will trigger every 15 minutes and alerts will appear in the RMM Alerts section of your Syncro account when something is found. The name of the Event Log Policy is what the RMM Alert will appear under.
